Natural Glass: Impacts from Space, Volcanoes and Lightening by Tom Piscitelli Quartz makes up eighty percent of earth's surface rocks and has always been used by humans. This talk will focus on the creation of natural glass (SiO2) by impacts from space objects, volcanoes and lightning. Tektites will be displayed from the 4 major tektite "strewn fields" including the Chesapeake impact crater. Also, there will be lava bombs, various types of obsidian and "petrified lightening" or fulgurites.
Novice and more experienced collectors will meet to exchange knowledge and help with fossil identification, discuss fossil locations, as well as other fossil related topics
