We are very lucky to have the opportunity to tour behind the scenes at the Calvert Marine Museum! John Nance, Paleontology Collections Manager for the museum will show us where the collections are prepped and curated; and where plastered jacketed specimens are brought to the lab for scientific studies or potential display.

After our tour we will visit a local beach for some fossil collecting! Our leader, Nick Spero will be staying at the beach until dark. You are welcome to leave at your own convenience but we ask that you let Nick or one of the trip organizers know when you leave.

What to bring/What to wear: Please dress for the weather and wear closed toe shoes with sturdy soles. We recommend waders or tall boots if you plan to wade into the water in search of fossils. A change of clothes is also a good idea in case you get wet! Bring sunscreen, snacks, water, and any fossil hunting gear you may need (e.g., backpack, plastic bags, scoop, shovel, sieve).

More information will be provided to participants as we get closer to the date.

Special note to fossil club members who attended the fossil club meeting on Wednesday, March 6. We apologize for the misstated trip date of 3/24. There was a scheduling conflict and April 13th is our new date. Thank you for your understanding!
