The Natural History Society of Maryland will reevaluate our cancellation policy after April 10, 2020. We will make our decision based on State and National guidelines concerning COVID-19.

Sand is a loose granular material blanketing the beaches, riverbeds and deserts of the world. Composed of different materials that vary depending on location, sand comes in an array of colors including white, black, green and even pink. But that is just the tip of the sand dune.

Join a chemist from the Army Research Laboratory and the American Chemical Society to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and participate in hands-on activities with a focus on the chemistry and need for conservation of earth’s sand resources. This hour-long program will include hands on activities like, microscopy, chemical tests on sand, and sieving.

This family friendly kid-focused program is best suited for kids 7 and up, but well behaved 5 year-olds with their parents are fine.
