Caves are not only exciting and adventurous; they are also fragile, beautiful, and critically important to life on earth. Meet with Dave Brumbaugh to hear about these very special ecosystems, veiled in darkness, beneath your feet.

David Brumbaugh was raised a Pennsylvania caver. His dad is a caver who manages one of the most popular show caves in America, Penn’s Cave. That is where Dave’s cave career began. His grandmother was the first female cave guide at that establishment. Dave was employed at Penn’s Cave for a decade, becoming Cavern Manager, then went on to work at Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park of Vancouver Island, Canada, the Caverns of Sonora in Texas, and eventually becoming a Park Ranger at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. He and his wife, Melissa Horn (also a caver), now work at Yosemite National Park, and are raising their daughter Rose (who has already explored more than 50 caves at the age of 7). Dave’s passion for the underground is contagious and he can’t wait to share with you the splendors of our subterranean world.
