This course will give you an introduction to the identification of distinctive spider groups and species. Learn about the different groups of spiders and how to tell them apart, including Jumping Spiders (Salticidae), Comb-footed Spiders (Theridiidae), Crab Spiders (Thomisidae) Orbweb Spiders (Araneidae), Wolf Spiders (Lycosidae), and Long-jawed Orbweb Spiders (Tetragnathidae), among others.  You will learn Spider eye orientation and general morphological features that will aid with Identification.

Jane Marlow has worked in education and animal care at the Maryland Zoo, the National Aquarium, and Baltimore County Recreation and Parks, totaling over 17 years experience in professional animal care and wildlife education. She is a certified trainer through the International Animal Trainer Certification Board. Ms. Marlow has taught animal behavior and natural science classes for a variety of organizations, including the Maryland SPCA, Baltimore County Animal Services, Maryland Master Naturalists, and the Baltimore Bird Fanciers.
