Learn how to grow native plants from seed – a great way to populate your garden with native plants without breaking the garden budget.  Learn tips and techniques for seed starting both indoors and outside and requirements for germination. including the right seeds starting media, and techniques ranging from simple sowing in the soil to scarifying and cold treating seeds. Take home native seeds to start your own plants.

Instructor: Christa (Chris) Partain is a lecturer of biology and environmental science at Towson University and Maryland Institute College of Art. In her previous life, she was a professional horticulturist, gardening in various places from Longwood Gardens to the National Aquarium.
