Meet Naturalist Aldo Leopold

Considered by many to be the father of wildlife ecology and the United States’ wilderness system, Aldo Leopold was a conservationist, forester, philosopher, educator, writer, and outdoor enthusiast. Among his best-known ideas is the “land ethic,” which calls for an ethical, caring relationship between people and nature.

Join Peggy Eppig, the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation, Maryland State Leopold Education Project Coordinator, as we get to know Aldo through his words, A Sand County Almanac, historical interpretation through select parts of GreenFire, a full-length documentary about Leopold’s life, and how his ideals of a Land Ethic were adopted early in several counties of Maryland.
