Digging may get all the limelight, but archaeology doesn’t begin with the dig nor does it end with a dig.  As NHSM archaeology curators Lisa Kraus and Jason Shellenhamer will tell you, archaeology isn’t just about what you find, it’s what you find out!

The NHSM Archaeology Club is excited to announce that it will be hosting a Members Only artifact cleaning, processing and cataloging event to find out more about pieces uncovered at the Glen Ellen Castle and Herring Run dig sites.

You do not need any previous experience to participate. But you do need t0 be a member of the NHSM Archaeology Club.  Children are welcomed to participate, but must be closely watched by adults. This activity is best suited for ages 10 and up. Not a member, but want to be:

If you are vaccinated, the choice of wearing a mask will be left to you. If you or your child are not vaccinated, masks are required when indoors. Space is limited to a total of 20 people. People who come together will be stationed at a table together. Individuals will have the opportunity to be socially distanced.
