Base fee:

In partnership with the DNR, join members of the NHSM Lep Club in exploring the Big Falls area of northern Baltimore County.

Beginning at 8:30 PM Tim Hoen and Ranger Jen Cashell will set up a mercury vapor light and begin drawing in moths and creatures of the night. This is an observational night time event to witness the stunning moths and other insects in Maryland.

Difficulty: Easy! 200 yards away from the main Vernal Pool site, and is very close to the road.

What to wear: Dress appropriately for walking outside in the woods on a summer night

What to bring: Water, flashlight.

Location: We’ll meet in the Big Falls Road parking lot just south and west of where the road crosses the Gunpowder River. You can put 17500 Big Falls Road in Monkton into your GPS. Plan for an 8:30 arrival at the parking lot on Big Falls Road. This is the same location as the vernal pool site. Walk across the bridge over Gunpowder Falls River and follow the signs.

Cost: Free to Lep Club members, and suggested sliding scale donation for others. You must register!
