Humans have been fascinated with mammoths since they first laid eyes on them. And that fascination has often been translated into art. For example, in the Rouffignac cave, in the French commune of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac there are over 250 engravings and cave paintings dating back to the Upper Paleolithic (see image). Seventy percent or 158 of the drawings are of mammoths. You have the opportunity to continue in these people’s brush strokes by painting your own mammoth. Like those Paleolithic humans, you will have the opportunity to have an actual mammoth as a muse. The Natural History Society of Maryland is so honored to have been selected to display a never-before seen mammoth skeleton found in Alaska. And we are going full out celebrating all things mammoth. Join us for a Mammoth Paint at the Museum.

Our instructors for the event come from Little Picasso Events. All supplies will be provided and included in registration.

NEW - Payment and Cancellation Policy: Payment is due online at the time of registration. Cancellations made seven or more days in advance of the event will receive a refund minus a 5% processing fee. Cancellations made within seven days of the event will not receive a refund but may be transferred to a friend. NHSM retains the right to update or change these requirements at any time.
