The Mid-Atlantic Ocean Data Portal (https://portal.midatlanticocean.org/) is a free and publicly accessible GIS mapping and information site focused on marine areas from New York through Virginia. The Portal contains over 6000 interactive map layers depicting vessel traffic patterns, marine life distributions, fishing grounds, offshore wind projects, historic shipwrecks, military training areas, and much more.

In this webinar, portal team members Nick Napoli and Karl Vilacoba will provide a tour of the site and demonstrate how you can explore your coast through maps. Napoli is a senior advisor to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council on the Ocean (MARCO), which maintains the Portal. Vilacoba is the portal manager and the communications director at the Monmouth University (N.J.) Urban Coast Institute.

The Natural History Society of Maryland is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and contributions are tax-deductible.

The mission of the Natural History Society of Maryland is to foster stewardship of Maryland’s natural heritage by conserving its natural history collections, educating its citizenry, and inspiring its youth to pursue careers in the natural sciences.
