Robert Gardner, this week’s presenter, has come down with a bad cold and will be unable to give his presentation to the club on Wednesday. We will postpone his talk until a new date is scheduled.. This means there will be no Zoom presentation as well.

A Bakers Dozen of some rare and intriguing butterflies and moths of Maryland.

Robert Gardner has been collecting butterflies and moths for 68 years. He will be bringing in a collection of rare and unique Leps to share with us and discuss in detail what makes them special. Rob has a broad collection of Lepidoptera, having collected in 26 states, Vietnam (while in the Army), Aruba and Canada. Rob and his wife have recently returned from seeing family in Arivaca Arizona and during the trip he collected 350 insects; 285 were moths. Rob often exhibits parts of his extensive collection of Lepidoptera, at various festivals, representing the Natural History Society of Maryland. When not collecting or sharing specimens he mentors students in Montgomery county.

The lecture will be in person and online via Zoom.  We encourage you to come in person so you can observe these unique Leps up close on August 27 at the Natural History Society. Feel free to bring any Leps or plants to share with club members. To recieve the zoom link you will need to register for the event.

The NHSM Lepidoptery Club meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6908 Belair Rd. Register to receive email updates about this month’s program.

Club members are also involved in outreach in the greater Baltimore community through educational programs and service projects. If you have questions
